On October 10, Aliyu Mustapha Lawal, a lecturer of Hausa and Arabic in the African Languages and Translation program at The Africa Institute, participated in the tenth edition of the Dubai Arabic Language Conference. His research paper, titled “The Familial Eulogy in the Poetry of Sheikh Weld Bel Amash: The Paternal and Cousinal Eulogies,” examined the emotional depth and literary devices the poet uses to express sorrow over the loss of family members.

Lawal has taught at Cairo University’s Faculty of African Postgraduate Studies and has contributed to Arabic poetry and translation through various publications and roles in media. He has also made appearances on literary and cultural television shows in the UAE and Egypt and has published articles and poems in esteemed magazines, including Al Qawafee in Sharjah and Al Azhar Magazine in Egypt. His active participation in Arabic poetry competitions and festivals includes notable events like the Rabat International Book Fair in 2022 and the Prince of Poets Competition in 2021, showcasing his commitment to promoting Arabic literature.
