The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, Sharjah will be participating in the seventh edition of Sharjah Art Foundation’s Focal Point art book fair between 22 to 24 November 2023 at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, a heritage site in Sharjah’s historical quarter (Click here for location map).

Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual art book fair showcases independent bookmaking from around the world with a spotlight on publishers from the region. A critical space for knowledge-sharing and community building, the fair features a compelling selection of printed material by artists’ presses, bookmakers, self-publishers and non-commercial cultural producers who expand and experiment with the medium of publishing. It also includes a talks program and workshops as well as book launches and signings.

The Africa Institute booth will make our publications among other key works by African and African diaspora available for purchase. To browse through the latest publications, click here. Merchandise will also be available. Attendees are encouraged to engage in conversations to learn more about our academic programs, scholarly conferences, and upcoming events.
